My 91 4matic transmission fluid level is high. I have been told that the transfer case on early 4matics allowed the hydraulic fluid to mix with the AT if the TC hydraulic piston,cylinders were bad. I replace the TC with a factory rebuilt unit 6 years ago. To my recollection I could not see how the two fluids could mix. What am I missing? Thanks for checking and for any all input.
