AC Off light stays on and won't go out
Hi,
I started up my 2003 E500 the other day to find warm air blowing out of the vents. I quickly noticed that the AC OFF indicator lamp was lit and can not be turned out. According to the manual, this indicates that the compressor is loosing refrigerant and the compressor has turned itself off. Is there any way to check to see if it is just a hose leaking, or do I need to replace the entire compressor?
Thanks,
John

It could be a hose, the evaporator, the condenser, the compressor, any number of connections, or could simply be a bad switch.
Probably a dealer type diagnosis, unless you have an up-to-date Indy tech in the area.

me too, same problem
My wife just told me about the a/c not working last week. Lucky for me the weather has been cool the last couple of day. Today I checked the freon levels=1.9lbs. A little low, specs are 2.10 plus or minus .07. Performed leak test with machine @ work, passed. checked pressure switch, when disconnected, the engine fan came on, so that's good. removed the signal wire to the compressor clutch, checked voltage=1.5 v. Called my MB star tech buddy, should be 5 volts.???? The clutch is staying engauged, and does not look good. The fact that I don't have 5 volts is a problem. I think that I have done all I am able to do without a star diagnostic computer to monitor the can communication circuits. Please let me know what you find out. Thanks

On my 91-300te -I replaced the drivers window mechanism - teeth ground off by frozen window on the old one - I don't know where the parts and pieces go - so need a diagram to show where what goes where. Motor on mechanism is o.k. Over the years I have owned over 50 m.b.'s - and now too old and stupid to figure this one out. Please help - Court
