'97 E320 traction control not working??
Hi there, I hope someone can point me in the right direction.....
Just got my hands on a lovely silver E320 and am enjoying every minute. Two things bugging me though:
1 - I don't think the traction control (that's the ETS, right? so many safety systems!!) is working. When I put my foot down hard I get significant wheelspin, the warning light on the dash illuminates but I don't think it's reigning the engine in the way it should. How can I test this, and can anyone suggest some steps to diagnose where the problem lies?
2 - Electric sunroof is dead. It's not the fuse, what should I check next? Is there a control module somewhere that might be dead?
Thanks! Very pleased to be on the road in my first Merc . Think it's going to be the first of many.....

normal.
We've compared the two and the traction control in mine definitely seems not to be working.....

No don't think it's the tires. We've tried it with two different sets of wheels with the same results.
I think this is going to require some further investigation. Not sure quite what to try though. I suppose getting the car with one wheel on slippery terrain (smooth grass for example) and one on tarmac and then a bit of heavy acceleration might give me definite proof that the ETS isn't functioning. Beyond that I'm not sure what to look at. Are there workshop manuals available from any source?

best way is to read the fault code.
maybe the speed sensor signal is implausible.
