I am looking at purchasing this 95 e class I found. The exterior looks clean (dents, etc). I do not know which engine it is or anything. It is noted the security system is not allowing the car to start. Would this be something that is easy to fix myself, or how much would it be have it professionally done? The asking is $1000.

I understand my details are vague about the issue but it is all I know. If I could get like a list of potential problems and solutions and costs. I do not know much about Mercedes and even less about their anti-thefts.

 

probably has an aftermarket alarm. the factory one you should be able to unlock the drivers door with the key blade and that is supposed to unarm the alarm. might want a second opinion on the no start..alarm issue. is the car cranking? any lights on the dash? does the key turn in the ignition?
