Hi Everyone,

I am at a loss as to what is going on with my in-law's car.

a 1994 e320 with ~180k miles suddenly started to go haywire.

When changing lanes, all the instrument guages, save for the speedometer, went out. no cruise control either... It could be driven but when they turned off the car, it wouldn't start. Battery has plenty of juice.

Before turning off the car, we let the car idle. Opening up the fuse panel in the engine compartment, it sounded weird. Hard to describe, rhythmic transformer humming is what is coming to mind. All of the fuses looked to be intact and nothing else seemed out of the ordinary. The car was making some weird other noises similar to a vacuum hose leak, but I couldn't place it.

Any thoughts?
