Default 87’ 300E water temperature over 105C

hi, Can anyone help me to find out why the water temperature of my 300E is as high as 115 centigrade degree?

The conditions that check are:

1 The sec. fan is fine.

2 The thermostat is opened after the water temperature rearching the 87 centigrade degree.

If anyone know what's wrong with the system, please

kindly drop a word here.

I do appreciate for you help.

you say your secondary fan is fine, is it coming on around 107'C? Also how do you know your thermostat is open at 87'C? Thermostats on these cars are not long lasting and will sometimes only open half way. Your viscous clutch and water to antireeze ratio are also variables. Does it overheat when your sitting still or when your driving down the road? Tell me as much as you can and we'll go from there.

Hi,Dale, many thanks for you words.

For the thermstat, when the water temperature gauge reaching the 80+ degree, the pipe that go out from the water pump(out of thermstat side)is starting trun to hot. so, I think the thermstat is working. But I don't know it's half way opening... or not.

Whatever I am driving down the road or just siting in the garage, when the engine is running, the temperature still reach 105~110 degree!

The sec fan is fine, but it's never running when the temperature reach 107 degree.

I have changed the Fan Resistor when I found it's broken, burnt. But the water temperature still that high.

well, when I turn on the heating system in the car, the water temperature is going down a little, but not down to 80. still standing at 95~100 degree. when I stop it, it come back to 105 degree.

But interesting thing is, it never reach the red line 125 degree!

Thanks for you help.

ok, I think we have stumbled on your problem. Your aux. fans are designed to come on around 105 to 107'C. They will run until the temp. drops to around 90. It sounds like you have a faulty sending unit for your aux. fans. It's a blue 2 pole sending unit located near the back of the engine near the head. Just disconnect the plug from the sensor and jump it, at that point your aux. fans should come on. If they don't then we need to go another avenue.

oh yeah, and you might want to remove your air cleaner first because it's under it near the back of the engine.
