86 190e doesnt crank over
Hi,
I have a 1986 190e, this morning when i tried to start, it wouldn't crank over.
All the lights appeared on the dash like they normally do, but the key in the ignition would not let me turn to crank over.
I checked the starter and selonid and they are fine.
But but i tested the connection there doesn't seem to be any power going to the selonid?
Does anybody know what else to check and where it is located on the vehicle.

My 200 did that once. you have to remember that mercs have big engines and are hard to turn over. in my 200 everything worked as normal (lights etc, well everything except the starter)
but it refused to turn at all. i then got jump leads from another car and it started as normal. i suspect that i had left the interior light or something on as it went fine after that. so it was simply not enough current going to the battery, so jump start it and if it still doesent turn but clicks the solinoid then it aint getting power so at least then if anything you know that itys definitly a wireing fault. to get it going connect a jump lead to the live terminal on the solinoid in order to drive it to a garage.
