Default 211 E Class Parking Sensors???

Afternoon,

New to the forum

Have an E Class that has parking sensors that wont work, front and rear both beep and have the red fault lights lit.

Have changed the only sensor that looks damaged (stone chip) with a new one. It wanted doing and has made car look better. A local independent Merc specialist says STAR will list the faulty sensors or any other problems.

He also says that we could replace the damaged sensor and it still wont work as the system need reseting to work? Is this correct?

Looking to have the codes read first and repair the sensors ourselves, fronts are tricky but rears are quite easy to get to. Will it need taking back for a reset after the faulty sensors have been changed?

Any help appreciated

Hi I don't know if you got anywhere with this.
My mechanic says you do have to reset the system.
I changed my front bumper (1996 S600), which obviously disconnected the sensors.
When the new (old) bumper was fixed in, the sensors no longer worked.
I thought this was the fault of the sensors in the new bumper and replaced them all with the ones from my old bumper. Still didn't work.
My mechanic says he needs the same fix for his car and has not yet found out how to do it. Any advice gratefully received.
