2002 W211 E-Class 220CDI
Hey all, my first post.
I would like to get your opinions on the following whether or not you think it would be a good buy. There are problems however:-
The Car:-
2002, W211 E-Class 220CDI Avantgarde Saloon, 187,000 miles (yes 187k), Full MB Service History, Brakes (both pads & discs) replaced 1 month ago, Full Service last week, 1 owner ex-company car with majority motorway miles. Silver, with Dark Blue Leather Interior. VG-Excellent Cond. with 2 minor rust bubbles.
The Problems:-
Heater does work, albiet blows warm air not hot, and this is set at the hottest setting. Maybe heater valve or thermostat?
In winter, and only in the morning, the car will cut out when selecting drive. Once warmed up for a couple of minutes, its OK, although it does sound like it wants to cut out. A friend has suggested it could be either the 'Cold sensor' (?) or Torque Converter?
Being the Avantgarde, it's not as comfy as I would have expected, a little noisy over potholes etc, with rattling trim.
Anyway, he wants £2.5k for it, which after driving it sounds a bargain and my first introduction into Mercedes Benz. Does this sound like a good buy to all you experts here, and if so would the problems mentioned above remain,....er a problem.
Thanking you all in anticipation, I sort of hope for positives, otherwise i'll be getting either a Honda Civic or a VW Golf. Boring but reliable and cheap to fix if it goes wrong.
