2002 E220 CDi central locking...
Hello out there! Anyone come across this problem?......Central locking works on all the doors but doesn't open the boot. Boot has to be opened with the key (fiddly but works), I'd like to fix it. Under the boot lid panel everything is pretty cramped, any tips please? Many Thanks

Fussy boot
Sir,
Have you tried this:
1. Opening the boot with the remote?
2. Opening the boot by depressing the boot release button (the key goes into this button) while the doors are unlocked?
3. Opening the boot from your center console switch. Ensure that your doors are unlocked.
The reason that I'm asking this is because I have a faulty door lock actuator on the passenger rear door. It hisses but won't unlock. You have lift up on the plunger. It will close when activated however. Anyway, it hisses while it is trying to open itself. It does this for about 15-20 seconds, then stops. It's annoying. Anyway, during that time I can't operate my trunk (boot) lock at all. If I pull up on the console trunk button, it does nothing.... until the hissing stops. Then my trunk opens as if it is possessed. The same thing happens if I get out of the car quickly.... if the doors all unlock, and I push the button on the outside of the trunk... nothing happens.... until about 15-20 seconds while the hissing stops.
I have had a mechanic say that the vaccuum lock device is somewhat interconnected. He suspects that my hissing / leak / failure is somehow causing air or vacuum to be stolen from the trunk locking system. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Maybe someday I'll bite the bullet and get the door lock fixed. Until then, I operate it and just live with it. Good luck.
