Default 1998 E320 Gasoline

My MB mechanic told me that this model year does not need Super Unleaded Gasoline. Gasoline with 87 Octane is good enough. Comments please.

I'm quite certain that a factory E320 is designed to use 87 octane. What does your owner's manual say? Does your car "ping" using 87 octane?

On my car it specifies which type of gasonline to use right on the dashboard guage for fuel. If your fuel guage does not say "use premium unleaded fuel only", then I guess you would be fine to use 87 octane.

Premium Gas... Even on my 1988 E300, it asked for premium gas. However, it will run on 87octane with pinging under hard acceleration...
