Default 1989 300E

I have had the pleasure of my 89' 300E for five years now with minimal problems. Recently while driving the car has started just turning itself off. I was able to get back to the driveway and now it refuses to start it will if jumped to another car but as soon as one of the cables is removed it immediatly dies and will not start. Could it be as simple as the battery? Any help is greatly appreciated.

It does sound like tha battery might need to be replaced. Take it to pep boys or somewhere like that where they'll test it to see how much life is left.
