1988 190e 2.3 5 Speed Clutch pedal REALLY slow
Just bought this car used.
Have a question about the clutch.
I have never owned a Benz and was told that the "Euro" Cars clutches are "just like this". I think this is a line of BS. I have owned a couple volvos and a VW. Never felt like this.
When I press the clutch down it goes REALLY easy. When I let my foot off the clutch with the gears in neutral the the clutch pedal takes its time coming back up.
Also when I am engaging the clutch to a gear, it seems like I have to give it alot of gas to get the car to move.
the guy selling it made a comment that i didn't know how to drive stick. Well I do. I have owned sticks all my life and never had one like this.
Any thoughts would be great.

UPDATE:
So it turns out that the shift linkage is probably shot. It was so bad that I didnt know I wasnt int 1st.
I was driving the car around in 3rd and 4th. After I found 1st and 2nd the clutch seems to engage fine. Go figure.
Anyone know how hard it is to adjust or replace the shift linkage in these cars?

UPDATE:
Just wanted to update this for anyone who finds it useful.
The clutch pedal is now faster after topping off the Dot4 fluid in the brake reservoir.
Still need to find where to buy Shift Bushings and how many I need.
If anyone knows pleas PM me or Email.
thanks
