Default 1987 300E Neutral safety switch

Can someone please help me with finding the switch. Is it under the car or do I get to it through the shift console. I need to adjust or replace this part as the car will not start in Park or Neutral. I have to hold the ignition to start and carefully move the gear shift from neutral to drive until the starter turns.

it is on the right side of the transmission.
under the car.

you will see a white flat thing there where the shift rod is attached.

Thank you very much for the reply. Have a trailor rented for Sunday and maybe now I will be able to adjust it to get the car started.

no need for the trailer.

just bypass the switch just for the car to drive to the workshop.
pull the connector out, jumper the two terminals, start the car, and plug it back.

also loosen the two small bolt, adjust it to a advance/retard position (whichever works), and tight it back. just make a slight adjustment.
