Default '07 E350 "Service E"

The local MB dealers quoted me $925 (sans a 10% discount) and the one I purchased the car from quoted $299 plus to perform a "Service E" on my 2007 E350 with 40K miles. It's the word "plus" that scares me.

I purchased the car as a CPO and 100K mile warranty less than six months ago with 33,500 miles. From what I've read in the owners manual and heard from both dealers, most of "Service E" is inspection and testing (battery) except for the engine and transmission oil & filter changes.

I suspect I have to adhere to the service routine to maintain the warranty and to reset the service indicator. However, I am disappointed the maintenace costs is so high. With the aforementioned, what are my options? If any.
