New CLS 500
I am currently driving a 2007 Cadillac Escalade and I am a very sad owner. I am now looking into the 2008 or 2007 CLS 500. I love the look and the feel of the vehicle. Even though I have yet to test drive it (which I will on sunday 12-16-07). I am in love with the Flint Grey Color.
Before I buy this wonderful good looking beast, I am turning to you guys to tell me What has happened to the vehicle and if there has been any major problems with the vehicle. And if what are all the problemsyou have had. I know the dealership will not tell me. I already made the mitake with the escalade and I am looking forward to driving around, no wind noise and one of the nicest vehicles I have ever had. If you can, can you please post pictures of your CLS? And is there any wind noise what so ever in this particular model?
Thanks,
Kameron Biggs

RE: New CLS 500
I test drove an '06 CLS 500 Friday. It was black/black with AMG body kit. I've been looking at the CLS for several months now and plan to upgrade to the CLS from my current '04 CLK 500. I wanted to see how the 5 liter engine performed in the CLS ( same engine as my CLK ) before I decided which direction to go. I've done alot of research and the overall majority of owners reports I've read indicate that these cars are pretty reliable and don't appear to have alot of problems overall... As far as the CLS 500 vs. 550, I want to test drive the 550 now as the 500 in that heavier CLS is noticeably less thrilling than my CLK... I'll either go with an '08 CLS 550 or possibly an '06 CLS55 AMG as they can be found with low miles at slightly lower pricing than the CLS 550's....

RE: New CLS 500
I had a 2006 CLS500 but had a lot of transmission problems. The car hesitated and the trans thumped at low acceleration and decelleration. The dealer tried 6 times to fix it with a software upgrade and some tinkering but it was never OK. Finally MB gave me a big discount on a 2006 CLS55 AMG and took back the CLS 500.
If you are interested in the CLS55 AMG, let me know. I might sell mine at the right price. The car listed for $97,000. It is silver/black and has 30,000 miles.

RE: New CLS 500
I have had a few problems with the car but nothing the dealer couldn't handle within one day so far. The only major problem was one day I was backing into my garage and the car just shut down on me and wouldn't start again. I pressed the roadside assistance and they sent a tow truck to take it to the shop. That was a faulty ignition sensor and since my car has been working fine for over a month now. I have the message "ESP is currently unavailable" pop up allot but that is because I put the rims on there and lowered the car so that's not MBZ's fault. Other than that no real complaints. I've had the car for a year now and am very happy with it. The CLS550 has excessive horsepower for the weight because the car peels out everywhere when you try to gun it. I went through the rear tires on my CLS550 in only 6 months @ just 10,000 miles. The front tires still looked brand new haha. So if you can find a CLS500 at a discounted price I would recommend that. As far as the CLS55 / CLS63 I can't really comprehend what the point is in that aside from status.
