Default Tampa Area Benz Owners Beware

I recently had the misfortune of needing some professional inspection done on my car. I had a bad transmission failure at about 80mph. Drink spilled on the Transmission control module.....blah blah. I swapped the module Car needed to be checked out so I took it to an indy shop down here off of Bearrs Ave called EUROPEAN AUTOHAUS INC. ( http://europeanautohausinc.com/) I took my car in around a month ago. And the trouble begins......

They told me they were fairly busy and that it might be a few days. I didn't have an issue with that as I have another vehicle to use. So a week or so goes by with no call. I begin to wonder wtf is going on? So I give them a call and I spoke with the the Sales Manager, Mike, he was friendly and told me that they were in the process of inspecting my car and that they would know something shortly. No problem I say... another week goes by.. I hear nothing. I call back and was told that they had brought in a Mercedes transmission specialist and that he looked into my tranny and found nothing wrong with my transmission.
Now I had an extended warranty on my benz from dealer services when I bought it a couple of years ago. This is what I presented to them when I initially took in my car.... I guess they didn't like the fact that they were not going to be able to squeeze me for crap repairs so the owner, Juan called me.. this is where the trouble began....
So Juan says to me. "We looked at your transmission and we don't see anything out of order for a car with your mileage, approx 100k. He said that there were some parts that could need replacement but I shouldn't worry about them." I said. Well, I have the extended warranty and that anything that needs to be replaced should be replaced.. Then he goes into this speal about how he used to sit on warranty boards and that unless it is falling off the car they will not do anything. He said that if I wanted anything done that I would have to have one of their inspectors come out and approved the work and that it would be a " big hassle" and that I shouldn't even worry about it. I told him that, that was the reason I bought the extended warranty, so that these things would be covered.
He told me that he looked at the tranny fluid and that it needed replacement. This is the first lie I caught him in as I just replaced the tranny fluid not a week before I took it in. He got defensive and told me that I had no business questioning him because he was an engineer and proceed to tell yell at me in trying to push me into buying some more work from him. He said you need a new battery and new motor mounts and your door should be adjusted and that I had pages of error codes on my ECU. This is all the while yelling at me and telling me that I had no business owing that kind of car blah blah blah. In other words I called him on his BS. I told him that my fkn battery was just fine and that unless he took more than a multimeter to it that there was no way to test the jar strength and load capacity etc. He started cursing and yelling and told me how RICH he was and that he could afford to comp the fluid and that he didn't need my business. He told me that I was TOO POOR to own a BENZ. Well screw him. I am an engineer. I work with DC and specifically in sensor/board technologies for a living I would have given him my business because I don't mind supporting an indy shop. But instead I ordered the parts online and I will have no prob doing the work myself. When I went to the shop to get my car he passed through the office and made an attempt not to look at me. In other words this guy was real tough on the phone. I can tell he had been bilking soccer moms out of money as a living for some time. What a scam artist. Words do not do justice . He might be rich but he you can't buy class and you can't stop a benz owner from telling others to avoid a bad joint. Screw him. Power to those who want to take on the work themselves. I know there are several good shops but this is a bad one.... stay away and tell others the same. I remember now why I have always done all of my own work. And never take anyone at face value. Turns out he has some bs business degree...it says so on his web site. And no, he is not an engineer. Just a hack. He thought I was someone he could roll on.....I showed him , and now I'm telling you all...... keep the wrench in your hands... Later folks....
