Default Power Seats

I have a 2002 CLK 320 and the Drivers Power Seat has gone out - the forward/backward motion only. I have been quite upset with the dealer as no one will help resolve the issue without a large $1,000+ repair bill. The car is 5 years old wih 32,000 miles and an extended warranty. Warranty says it's not cover, dealer says out of manufacturers warranty - ugh!

I owned a Chevorlet Suburban prior to this and rec'd much better service! On one occassion they filed a repair under warranty (even though the warranty had expired)due to the rarity and lack of use of the part. Why can't a Mercedes dealer do the same?

Any similar probelms or suggestions?

hello
95 percent of the time it is the fuse that blows for the seat. there are a couple fuses. the fuses you want are in the trunk under the spare tire cover toward the back on the right side. only a little fuse box with maybe 10 fuses in it. you will find fuse blown there. good luck.

There is an MB Star bulletin about these seat motors. Apparently for the 01 and02 year the seat motors are faulty. Mine were replaced twice. It seams that once they start blowing fuses it's not much time until the motor goes. The good news is the motors are not very expensive. Around $100 and they are an easy do it yourself driveway fix.
