Default Need Information

Hi Everyone, My son bought an 03 CLK500 two years ago, never had a problem. Two weeks ago the cel came on and sporadically when hitting the gas pedal it was not accelerating properly. It passed inspection last week, light went out and acceleration has been ok. Yesterday the car would not start. Does this sound like the transmission went? We live in the Philadelphia area, I'd prefer to take it to a mechanic as opposed to the dealership, where I know he'll get hammered. He's a recent college grad not making much $. Any help or info is greatly appreciated!

Ok, so we took it to a mechanic who said that his ignition wires were leaking, which needs to be fixed. But his battery was dead, they charged him 326.00 for a battery, does that sound right?

Default Oops.....

Relevant comment .........Mine did that about 6mo ago, I put it on the charger for a few and got it started after a while, it wouldnt turn over at all but everything worked and the voltage was fine before charging, I replaced the batteries in the keyfob and cleaned the glass/plastic red lens where the key fits into the ignition, and it started working again????? not sure which one made the difference or if it was a fluke. still using the original battery.

If you have to have the battery replaced around here S.FL I think its $135.00 thru mercedes roadside assistance and its cheaper than going to the dealer.

I would make sure that the replacement battery (if going with another brand) has the hydrogen gas vent tube-very important.
