I just purchased a 2005 CLK Cabriolet with 12,000 miles on it. Great car but the top rattles. Both over the windows and over the windshield. Suggestions?

 

it should still be in warranty- bring it to your local dealer.

 

did this ever get fixed ? what was it ?

 

My wife's 2007 clk cab rattled one time like this. I had put the top down in warm weather and back up in the cold. The next time I had a pretty day I put it down and back up and the rattles went away.

I think I may not have let it get completely latched down and released the button too soon. That I believe was the problem.

 

well what was causing the rattle

 

I bought my CLK 500 Cabrio new and I also have the roof rattles along with the window rattles. While it was in warranty, I took it back and the MB dealer was glad to charge MB USA to fix it, but since the warranty has expired, I have to try and figure out a way to fix it myself.

The windows rattle because the window track is loose, this happens when people exit your vehicle and use the window to close the door. Since there is no window frame, the window loosens in the track. Once they tighten it, it is fine for about a year, then normal wear and road rattles loosens it up again.

For the top front, I think it is loose pieces in the top connection. I wish someone would post an easy "howto" take it apart and tighten it.

Anyone else have this problem? It is the one thing I despise about this vehicle after spending > 65K for it new.
