Default Problem with A160 Mass airflow sensor.

Hello,

I bought an A160 for my wife a few weeks ago.

The car has been cutting out while driving, all power goes in engine and to restart need to turn ignition with gas pedal pressed.

We took it to the Mercedes garage yesterday and they quoted us ₤1199 to replace the mass airflow sensor.

I really can't afford this but need to get the car fixed.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

The car is semi auto

Thanks
Dave

I would go and get a second opinion first to confirm it and phone around to different wrecking yards to locate the part.

Or go to this site http://www.aclassinfo.co.uk/ the A class guru!

Thanks Bill,

I am going to make some calls tomorrow and see what alternatives there are.
I will also look at the guru's site, thanks

On the A class the MAFS and Engine ECU are combined I think, replace one and you need to do the other too as a result. Get a second opinion, seach the net for ways to clean it yourself.

Default Many people have done this

I swear by my little A160 as a shopping vehicle and parking gem. I's partner for my CLS350.
Air Mass Sensor was quoted by my local dealer at A$3497!!! the problem was not that bad but the price was ridiculous. After going to this forum I had mine done at Colin Drew's Sydney Road for A$615 and it's going perfectly (it took a week)
