RE: winter/snow tires for 2007 C230 Sport
thanks gilgorm and 07blackc230...
I live in city of chicago so driving to the burbs just to get the tires from discount tires is not an option for me.
"Justtires" have the all season Dunlop tires that I am interested with for 750+tax.
Since the main streets of chicago is (for now don't know if all winter) is being salted and cleaned so I think I will be fine with an all season... I drove my car last night and it was fine even with the original summer tires that came with it... I slipped and all and almost didn't stop when I pressed my brakes on a red light but I was able to gear down right away and that helped slow down the car and make a full stop just in time... I know the snow will be heavier come feb or march... I will see how this one work... if time permitted I will have my tires changed today. and oh, I think the sandbags I put in my trunk also helped.... hope these tires will help me get through these winter months...
thanks again!

As always its your call.
I suggest you use the "W" on your automatic transmission for most of the winter. It starts in second and relieves some engine torque when stopping.
You mentioned 'gearing down' so if you are manual go easy and steady.
Happy safe motoring.

I run Pirelli
I have a 2003 C230 Sport Coupe, it is terrible or worse in the snow. I run Pirelli Winter Carving snow tires all winter in Nova Scotia, Canada and they are fabulous.
I drove home from work last night in snow, 330 Km, no problems , about 200 miles.
They are quiet and wear very well.
I recommend them highly
Good luck,
Trygve

I have a set of snow tires for this model. They have one season on them and came off my 2007 230 sport, they are staggered. they are available in st louis, and they work really well in the snow, had all the same problems you describe.
