Default Window tinting W203 C240

OK I have heard many comments on putting tint on a 2003 C240. I was curious what the real problem is?? Is it true that the C240's should not be tinted do to tint scratching issues?? If so what is the easyest and best way to resolve this other than just not tinting them??

Thanks
Rick

usually its because of radio interference with the antennas in the back window. i have seen many C's with tint on the back, and it depends on how far up the guys put the tint and whos doing the job.there is a COM bar or comunications bar at the very top of the back window and sometimes it gets tampered with when putting on the tint, and then your remote wont work to unlock the car and your AM radio will suck. but you can tint them but make sure it is NOT metallic based tint. you might find that tint will affect some radio staions but overall everything should work for you.

Thanks, I appreciate the response,

What I am seeing on the internet is articles regarding tinting the side windows?? Something about how the C240 has cheap plastic along the window rather than felt thus you cant roll your windows down without scratching???

Dont want to waist the $$ if the C240 cant be tinted properly

Thanks again

Rick

Rick>you might want to do a search on this site for tinting. Everything you are asking about was just
covered recently in detail. Too lengthy to repeat it all here, but I'm sure you will find the answers you
are looking for there.

You will see faint lines on the window from scratch marks, most likely from the plastic trim around the windows but I have never verified this is the cause. I believe there is a row of stiff bristles lining the whole window encasement to protect the glass but it might be too abrasive for the tint film. Also, the previous post is correct in that the AM radio will not work. I have serious disruptions with it and I live in a major metropolitan area.

Getting back to the windows, it is annoying but the shade of the tint outweighs the cosmetic flaws, especially in summertime!!
