Wheels!
Hello...I am new to the site and very happy to have found all of you! I have a 95 C280 with 16" stock rims and am interested in putting new rims and tires on it. I am not sure how it will effect the performance of the car or if there are any size restrictions. Do any 95-99 C280 owners have new wheels on your cars? I am interesting in hearing your experiences with putting 18 or 19" rims on your cars....Thanks!

RE: Wheels!
i got a c180. bout month ago put 18's on. 225/45/18 size. looks the nuts! no rubbing on full steering lock & after hard bumps etc (bloody close though).
if ya thinkin of 19's would be very wise to stiffen the suspension.
there is responses about sizes & photo of my wheels in a post called 'alloy wheels?' about 8 or 9 pages back..
(may well be in the mind but i think i felt a little downgrade in performance after putting them on, but with your powerful 280 no probs)

RE: Wheels!
maybe i am too old...but what i dont understand is that...with these over-sized wheels,
[ul][*] you cannot go over even a small bump, or a little hole; they can warp or crack your rim[*] speedo-meter no longer tells you the speed...so pray as you drive?[*] the ride is really bumpy and noisy....u like the wagon wheels from western movies?
[/ul]
so....other than the perceived beauty by a handful, i dont see the point.
please educate me. i am all ears.
