Dave is referring to the "canister" that HOLDS the oil filter element, as is on my 2005 230K,and tightening the lid or cap to it and Polestar is talking about the "screw-on" canister TYPE filters that can be hand

Hey dont worry Polestar

A 99 is as good as or maybe better than an 02. Oh and as far as being on the cheap, I love it when I do it myself and save $400.
