I have a 2001 C320 with 43,500 mileage on it and i was woundering when would you have the Trans oil replace any advise please thanks

 

you should check your owners manual, in c230 2002 the transtimition sistem is seald and service free

 

60k miles is fine.

 

Sleepwalker knows what he is talking about. I changed mine at 85K mi. for the first time. My mechanic said every 60K mi. from now on.

 

actually mercedes doesn't recommend changing the fluid in that trans. unless there is a problem

I paid $145 parts and labor with a car wash at the dealership.

That's the "party line" but ask yourself, why do the transmissions have a filter if the fluid doesn’t become dirty and need replacement?
Besides that, I've asked around and tech after tech that is knowledgeable about that transmission says to change the fluid. BTW, Sleepwalker (in this thread) is an MB technician and says to change every 60K mi. My mechanic says those who don’t change the fluid are asking for trouble. The worst that could happen if you change and don’t need to is you’ll be out $200. But, if you do need to and you don’t……well, that transmission is a $5,000 piece of hardware not including installation. ($2800 for a reconditioned one.)

 

the real lifetime transmission oil is what we use on bmw. it was almost the same as pentosin.
