Default Transmission, cooling and computer problems

Hi, everyone. I am having problems with my 1998 C280 Mercedes Benz. It currently has 133,000 miles on it. I love the car but after pricing around for replacement of a rebuilt transmission, I am not sure it is worth it to keep. Maybe you can help decide if it is worth it to fix. At the moment my car is not shifting out of 1st gear at all. When put into reverse it bangs into gear and when putting it into drive it also bangs into gear. The service engine soon light always seems to be on and I am unable to get anyone give me an accurate reading on these codes if it is electrical, etc. also. Last week I took it for a very slow and short test drive and the temperature raised so high in the vehicle that I needed to pull over several times just to let it cool down. I am not certain now if there is a coolant leak also. Occasionally in the past the front windows would intermittently not work moving up and down and that is what is happening now. Then after some time they start working again. I checked fuses, etc.

Any suggestions if this car would be worth it keep or just trade it.

I appreciate your feedback.

Thanks and have a great day.
