I had that problem. We ended up disconnecting the E-dam unit on the console. It's wasn't an easy fix either. After re-assembly, I ended up with 2 parts left over, and had no idea where they were from. I disassembled again and after another re-assembly, had 3 parts left over! I decided to take it to the dealer and they insisted that those parts were not from the unit? Turns out that the overalls I was wearing had extra parts in the pockets which were from a different fix on the air conditioning unit-which has never worked since I fixed it.
I decided to attach a rope from the latch on the inside of the trunk and snake it up to the front seat. When I need to open the trunk I simply pull on the rope and it opens. It works OK, but It looks like hell! I kinda wish I hadn't put a hole in the leather seat back because when I tried feather the edges of the hole, the leather lost its dye and now looks like a bullet hole. It kinda sucks. But that's OK cause I made this whole thing up.
BTW, what is this thread all about?
