I noticed on a pre-2001 c series, the silver mercedes emblem on the steering wheel. How can I get this on my (just purchased) 98?

I wanted one myself, they are not a separate item and come only with the steering wheel. I checked with several dealers and they all told me the same. So you need to buy the whole steering wheel for the star. I didn't by the way.

 

On the C Class Pre 2001 the silver star was only on 2000 models they added that and Tele-Aid that last year of the 202's. You may be able to just buy the air bag cover. They should sell that as it is destroyed if the bag goes off but the wheel would be intact.

 

I looked into your suggestion. The airbag cover is part of the airbag assembly, in my vehicle at least and very expensive. Also, it is a dealer install item, if you don't know what you are doing with these things, you can really get hurt. Do a search on Google for Mercedes recyclers, the emblem is only glued on. Another thing, the size might look correct, but I measured a star on a car in the showroom of the dealer I go to and it is a bit wider and would overlap the "lip" of the stamped star on my vehicle.

 

Thanks guys, kinda figures. Thought it was worth asking. Shame they don't sell it seperate. Would be a nice aftermarket item for someone to make.
