Starting problem
Hi I just bought a 1998 C180 a few months ago it has 52000 miles on the clock and the car has developed a small problem.
When I start the car from cold the rpm goes over 1000 then starts to drop down to normal idle rpm but for some reason the rpm drops right off down to about 350 rpm and the engine bucks and you can smell petrol, also it some times gives a popping noise from the exhaust and a small amount of white smoke.
If I try to drive off when this is happening there is no power. Then after about 2 mins the rpm returns to normal idle and car has its power back and runs smooth all day. I have changed plugs, air filter, fuel filter and put a fuel treatment in it and its still the same. Any ideas welcome.
Thanks

Problem Solved
It was the Mass Air Flow sensor got a non genuine one from work put it in. The car now starts perfect and has a lot more power than what it had before, only thing is she has cut out on me twice at traffic lights so I'm going to buy a genuine Bosch MAF and fingers crossed thats all thats wrong.
