Default sputtered then stopped

First time posting so I apologize in advance if not all info is here. I have a 2005 C230K. I was driving it when it started to sputter followed by a CEL, it got worse to the point where it struggled to accelerate. I stopped and turned it off, left it alone for an hour or so. When I started up to get it read, it seemed to run fine. The code ended up being a Cylinder 3 Misfire. What should my next step be? I don't really want to take it in, but don't want to worsen it either. Also, I had the 'B' inspection done about 10K miles ago, no problem then. Currently 59000 miles on it.

check to make sure the vent hose recall was done on it, does cause misfire codes and runs horrible. call a dealer to see if your VIN range falls into the recall for replacement. also i believe your car has issues with oil getting into the engine wiring harness from the Cam adjusters and could also be that.

thanks for the reply. I will definitely call to see if the hose has been replaced or if it needs to be. About the cam and oil issue, about a month ago i had to put a quart of oil in it, I thought it was odd because I figured I shouldn't be putting oil in it with such few miles on the car. I called the dealer who did the 'B' service and they said it was normal. Does that sound normal, or more likely to be a leak like you mentioned above regarding the cam? If so, what can I do to fix that. Also, I have been driving it around all day, and still no sputtering like before. Still have the CEL on. ??????

you can pull the plug off of the cam advances or the engine control unit and look to see if it is wet with oil. some of those engines also had oil leaking from the seals on the valve cover at the spark plugs. a dealer should send you a notice on the recall. the fact that its an intermittant problem its hard to say, but check the basics first.could be anything.
