Also, though not a huge issue with an '06 and a lesser problem with newer paints versus older paints, is that paint on a car fades because of sunshine. Even if paint from the same batch were used to make repairs, it wouldn't match if the car has faded paint.

 

You should have found the owner of the Dog and sued for a new car claiming that the car will never be the same because of the damage sustained in the wreck. Seems rude and cold-hearted but u spent good money on the car and they need to keep track of their pet. Unless it was a stray then well sorry.

 

You can only sue for actual damages/losses. No judge would give you a new car.

Yeah, as much as I liked my Cadillac Fleetwood from high school, it didn't feel the exact same after the wreck. And since driving it while visiting home, it some small pickup truck has ran into it and totaled itself. Now the Cadillac feels just off balance. (At least the 5.7 Corvette engine is still a rocket.)

But, to sue successfully you'd have to prove the loss in value. Not impossible, but you'd have to sell it as is and then prove what the car would sell for if it hadn't been damaged, all the while subtracting any imperfections the car had prior to the accident.

Your local Mercedes dealership should have a list of their certified MB shops. Not all dealerships have their own body shops, but they do have a list of ones they use for their body work on dealership cars. There are always a couple notable shops in every city that do most all the work for Ferrari, Lambo, Jag, Porsche, MB, and BMW. Don't think all these cars don't get banged up. I took my Cadillac CTS to one of the places Mercedes uses in my city, and you could never ever tell the car had been hit. My buddy also took his 300C which he side-swiped a fire hydrant with to the same place, and you would also never be able to see the car was hit there. Our paint finishes and everything were just as the original.

Unless your car was really hit good, I wouldn't be worried about problems down the road. Light accidents often never show up on the title of a car, so as long as you get the best shop to fix the car, then nobody will ever be able to tell the car had work done. If by some fluke chance you go to sell it and the guy looking is the best body repair guy in the world you could probably get away with saying the bumper was replaced after getting it hung up on a curb and cracking it.
