Smell of exhaust in vent

I have a 220 CDI from 2000. Recently I have noticed that it smells of exhaust in the car, and that it defintiely comes through the vent. It smells less when I use the A/C. Any ideas what it could be?

Not sure what it could be but it could be dangerous, exhaust fumes may have Carbon Monoxide (poison). I'd have it check right away ...

take top engine cover of and check all the fuel pipes it sounds more a fuel leak thats all this cdi suffers from other than its a bullet prof.........

Hi, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM,IF YOU TAKE OFF THE ENGINE COVER, MORE THAN LIKLEY YOU WILL FIND THAT A INJECTOR SEAL HAS GONE, THERE WILL BE BLACK CARBEN AROUND THE INJECTOR, IF SO YOU WILL NEED TO CHANGE COPPER WASHER.
