Default Side mirror problem in C-class

I have a 2003 C320. I have the passenger-side mirror set to tilt down on Reverse. When I put the gear out of R, it doesn't return exactly to the memory location, slightly below. You can tell because if you press the memory button, it will tilt up a little further. I broght it to the dealer and they couldn't find the problem. They replaced the control module, didn't help. Then the service advisor tried reset something from the dash, the problem seemed to go away. But it comes back now after 3 months. Does anyone have the similar problem?

I also notice the mirror returns to a different position, depending whether it is returning from above or below. To reduce the number of variables, you can try move the mirror up or down (not side-way), and then press the memory button. It is supposed to return to the location in memory. But apparently, the position it returns to is different, depending on whether it is coming from above or below. Out of curiosity, I set in a 2006 C-class brand new in the dealer lot, it is doing the same thing. I wonder if anyone is also seeing this "feature".

Default RE: Side mirror problem in C-class

you have to store the "reverse tilt" memory.

put it in "r", adjust the mirror to your intended position.

press and hold "m" button, then quickly press the up adjustment button very quickly just enough to see a very slight movement on the mirror.

release the m button.

now put it in d and wait till it comes back to driving position.

adjust and store in memory.

that's it.
