My car started to shake like crazy even when it's in neutral (a little less though). My mom said it could be the motor mounts but the check engine light is on. So I'm not sure if it's that. I have a 2005 C-230 with 55000 miles and my warranty just ran out!!! I'm trying to fix this as cheap as possible. Any ideas on what it might be? Thanks!

Ours was doing the same exact thing. took it in thinking it would be something simple...
This turned out to be a "hardline hose" from the engine to the supercharger thing.. totalling a lovely $650.00.

It is either a misfire or a major vacuum leak. I am gonna guess at the vacuum leak. There is a pcv hose runing under the air filter housing that goes from the intake manifold to the engine block. The codes would likely be p0170/p0173 for adaptation (fuel mixture) at limit values. The hose typically costs about 10-30 bucks and about 3 hours labor. You need to see the codes prior to any diagnosis.

 

I had similar problem, car used to shake (tremors). If I keep a cup of water on dash board it will have waves (I dont know what else word to use )

I took to dealer, he told it hs some wires under plug or something which were burned.

Cost = 650 $

he told hey man u are lucky it will cost you just 650 $

My wife put some gas in the car...soon after the engine light came on and the engine began running rough causing the engine to "shake".
Then, driving home in a monster rain storm, the car is shut off and won't start, turn over, nothing.

I found the 2nd problem to be a wet fuse box under the hood, right side.
I unhooked the battery, clean and blow off the fuse box. back to engine light and rough idle problem but at least the car will start.
is there a chance these 2 problems are related. both happened in the last 2 days

i have already had the climate control problem fixed. car has 95000 miles on it.
