Default RIM Shine

Hi All,

I have a problem with shine of my C240 Year 2002 Rims. I mean rear rims are good, shine like new. Front ones are not like new. They have developed some carbon over the time and some small round rust spots. Actually I was not cleaning them often. Since now I know I clean them every week, but I am not able to shine like new. One day I scratched them with some hard cloth and I see not the little bit shine has also become dull. So I am planning to shine them with some polish. I am going to use this polish :

http://www.amazon.com/Mothers-Mag-Al.../dp/B0002JMV2O

Does anyone know if that would harm the wheel RIMs. I have original standard wheels.

C240' 2002.

Please guide me.

regards

You might want to install brake dust guards to prevent brake dust. Your rims also should be aluminum alloys, aka rust proof. What you see is probably a rim stain.

On my front two rims I have black streaks or spots that are very noticiable. They do not come out when I wash them or anything. I would make a big deal about it but I'm getting new rims soon.

Anyone know why I have these black spots/streaks? Don't want my new rims to look the same after a few weeks.

are your wheels polished aluminum (look like chrome) or are they painted silver? if they are painted- buy some polishing compount/very very very light rubbing compound- and use some elbow grease and time. depending on how bad of shape they are in- that should clean them up nicely. follow up with a coat of wax of your choice. i have a set of white painted wheels on one of my other cars- when i neglect the wheels for a while (rare- but it happens)- this process brings them right back to where they should be.

if your wheels are painted- i wouldn't use the above mentioned meguires- that's meant for chrome or chrome appearing metals

Go to the Auto Parts shop and buy Wheel Shine called Silver Shine. Works prttey good for me when I used it; spray it on it the wheels and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Wipe it and reapply second time (if real bad) and you will see a very good result.

this confuses me becauses you said if they are painted on- do this and then at the bottom you say no don't do it.
What to do?
