Default Remote Central Locking and Alarm not working?

Hi All,
I'm hoping someone here has the answer, I'm new to this forum, but I'll try and provide as much detail as possible...

My car in question is a 53 reg C220i CDI Coupe.

The problem: Basically my key fob wont lock the doors or set the alarm.

My attempts so far:
  • At first I assumed that this was an issue with the key fob, but having changed the batteries, still didn't work.
  • Took it to a guy who had claimed to be able to fix the fob, but when he hooked the fob to his computer, the fob was supposedly fine and in good working order.
  • I then had the fuses checked, both by the driver's door and under the bonnet. Still no issues.
  • When I went to the stealership they were quoting me £80 and hour to look at the vehicle, but the Mercedes employee was kind enuff to have a quick look for me, he noticed that the previous owner had put window tint on the car, and he says that may cause a problem (???) But there is no window tint on the front windscreen. He noticed that by putting on the tint, they had accidentally cut the aerial receiver wire, and as such I get no FM/AM reception (but I guess that's a problem for another day).

I'm completely out of ideas.
What are my options here?

I recently worked on a 203 with the same problem as yours...it was the fuse..you said you had the fuses checked under the hood and in the side of the dash...the fuse u need to look at is in the rear sam---in the left side of the trunk...i dont remember which fuse it was though

Yeah I know the aerial is on the rear window, but the wire feeding it to the rest of the car is cut.

Regarding the fuses, ALL the fuses for the alarm system are all at the front according to the wee pamphlet that tells us where all the fuses go.

your car also has a rear window/headliner "com bar" /antenna, turn on the radio station that is staticy get in the back seat and push up on the headliner across the top of the window push up in various area across the rear of the headliner above the glass. there are small rubber like contacts that make contact with the window and if they get moved or touched you can have a problem with reception. on the coupe car its on the tailgate glass, in the sedan its in the headliner. also double check fuses in the rear sam in the left side trunk panel.
