Red Warning light/electrics issue
Hi all
I have a C180K on a 53 plate, and I have a problem with what would appear to be the alternator/electrics relating to it. When I set off, the LCD panel flashes red and says visit workshop with the battery and alternator icon. The stereo cuts out when this happens. It then flashes SRS, other warning lights and then stops. About another 30 seconds after this it repeats all the above and then the car drives normally with no issues. The Orange warning light on the rev counter has always been on.
The problem only seems to occur on the first journey of the day, I.e. if the car is driven and then used again when still warm from the previous journey this fault doesn’t occur. I have been told it is the alternator voltage regulator. Would this make sense? I haven’t taken it to a garage yet, as I don’t want to get stitched up without having a clue about what is wrong.
Any help much appreciated.
