OK guys and gals its my first post I have a 1999 C280 and I have oil accumilating under the oil pan and as I drive it hits the exaust and makes a terrible smell! today I cleaned up the underside of the pan and bell housing. I drove it arround for about an hr. and jacked it back up. the oil is comming from the top of the upper pan on the drivers side twards the back about an intch from the bell housing. I put a light up there and got my mirror up there it. There is a hole in the top of the pan I cant figure out why it is there or what it does, is there supposed to be a tube that goes to it or a cap? I put my finger inside to see if I could feel threads I didnt but I did feel a baffel type thing.
Can anyone help me please!??!?!?! Do i need to drop the pan? do I need to cap it off? put a breather hose on it????
