Default Performance chip or no Performance chip??

I have been looking into purchacing a power performance chip for my 02 c240, I can get one any where from $20 on E-bay to $400-$600 from a euro company. As tempting as it may be to get the $20 dollar "25-30 horse power increase" chip off of ebay... I have my doubts!
So, If I go and spend $600 on a performance chip..It better well be worth it! Right?
I would love to here from anyone that has made the "big Purchase"
Does it make enough of a defference to make it worth the price? Does it effect anything in a negative way?
Is it worth it??

I tried one on a BMW once. I bought one with a good reputation. The installation which I did myself (I am an Engineer and have handled 100's of Circuit Boards) resulted in the death of my Bosch Computer. Putting the car back right again cost about $600. I would not try it again.

We use SI ECU tuning and never had dissatisfied customers.
For your C240, price is $599.99 shipped and gains are 15hp 15lb-ft using 91 octane.

Not a problem to reflash new software into this ecu. Your engine would get about 15hp and 18lb-ft. If you refit a blower, would the gain be about 95hp, but the cost would be 11-12 times what a single software tune will cost.

Who's but is sensitive to notice 15 hp additional on a 200 hp car? That is minimal, 7%!

15hp alone may not sound like it's much, but you WILL notice the gain without a doubt.
