Default ok everyone, I need an honest opinion about my 05 c230

I have an 05 c230, six speed and 75k miles. I just bought it about 2 months ago, and I've only driven it about 2k miles since then. I know that it was well taken care of since brand new with all maintenance completed as noted by MB. I have driven it like a 80 year old woman everyday since I purchased it.

This past Friday I was driving around town and my check engine light came on. I noticed only twice that the car had a slight hesitation and both of the hesitations were when the car had just been started (and it's been COLD lately). It never died, but just a slight chug and then it was fine.

I took it to my local (well trusted) mechanic who pulled the codes and it turned out to be a misfire. He suggested that it could just need a set of plugs, a fuel filter or something simple like that since it is around 75k miles and that stuff hasn't been done yet.

What do you all think? I have heard a lot of bad things about the electronics in these cars and I hope that Im not going to start being plagued with them. I need a car that will be good til at least 200k miles and I don't mind the occasional MAF replacement, or coil, but if this thing is going to littered with problems or major repairs such as my 6 speed, or engine going out...I want to ditch this thing. I would like some honest opinions on the likelyness that this will be a good car...

Thanks everyone!

Default honest opinion

I have a 2003 C230 with 160Km, 100K Miles and after the lease at 39 months, I bought it because I really liked it. Now I am second quessing that decision. Over $5,000 of repairs, not maintenance in the past year. And my A/C just went, evaporator, Some $2,500 repair I am told. MB just checked it for corrosion and have offered to correct it and paint to the tune of $2,600. Scheduled in February

I am going to try to sell it. I do not trust it anymore. I am very concerned.

It is too bad because the car performs wonderfully, but I just can't put that kind of money into it.

In my opinion, dump it.

Good luck never the less.

I assume that many people will share your feelings, Trygve. The car is beautiful and it's truly a shame that they are not more reliable...I honestly don't know of a sexier 4dr for $12k.

I'm leaning 60/40 towards dumping it...

As with any used car it always best to bringit to the dealer and have a tech chk it out that 100$ would be well worth it. Now for all benz at 60k the fuel filter is due almost everycar i touched still has the original. the fuel puump start to die around 100k so if your getting misfire problems monitor the fuel pressure it should be key on pressure engine off read 3bar min. and hold iif pressure leaks out rplace fuel filter andfuel pump. with engine running should be 3-bar pressure(1bar= 14.7psi give or take) also theair filter is the other major item negelected i've seen them go 180k when people ar changing out MAF sensor which is hardly the problem just clean the air box and replace the filter from the dealer. spend the $ its cheep the replacement is every 50k then the spark plugs are evy 100k or if your at 80k+ having misfires replace the plugs and if its m112,m113 engine the resistive ignition coil wires 2 per cylinder they can cause rough idle and even misfire .
