Default Oil change 2004 C-230

I have saved a fortune since 2004 changing my own oil. If you don't own a somewhat expensive evacuation system to do it the easy way, then you have to get to the drain plug on the bottom of the car. The first time was a nightmare. You can't crawl under the car, and I don't have a hoist. So what I do is park the car in the driveway, brake ON. I then jack up the front left side all the way and slide a ramp under the front wheel. The tire rests about 3/4 of the way up the ramp. I then lower the jack and do the same thing on the right side. I then drive the car the rest of the way on top of the ramps. Plenty of room then to crawl under. Then just remove the 2 large shields that protect the underside. The oil drain plug is easy to spot, but you can also find a picture of it by searching Youtube if you are not certain.

Hello, I sometimes need to move a disabled car a short distance by myself I block the rear wheels , and set the e brake, then follow your procedure. Then remove the wheel chocks, jump in and release the e brake. However I have had a Merc. car, with the e brake set tight and both rear wheels chocked rapidly roll off the the ramps when I removed the chocks. I reiterate the e brake was tight and set. I would have been crushed had I been underneath. Please purchase and correctly place a set of Jack stands on a firm base, and lower your car on to them plus securely block your wheels before going underneath. Allan
