I liked my old old 190E so much that I just bought my wife a 99 c280. I love it!! But, it has a couple of foibles
First, It takes about 10-15 minutes to fill the gas tank; sometimes it won't accept any attempts to put fuel in it. If I hit the handle heavily, it shuts off immediately. The only way that I can get it to take gas at more than a trickle is to run it fast for the second or two before the nozzle clicks off, but that is extremely frustrating. Usually, I just barely activate the nozzle and work on the Great American Novel in my head. (While filling it at the car wash this morning, I saw three Ferrarris, a Bently rag top, and a 63 Split window vette)

Second, the Low fuel light comes on and blinks, even as it did today with an almost full tank. I haven't paid much attention to it so I haven't identified a pattern, but the check engine light comes on when it does it (It is obviously not a GM car that I can figure out )

Third, is wearing out lower control arm bushings a C280 foible? Mine needs them (110Kmiles) and two other folks I know with C class cars either need them or have done them. My guy wants $550 to replace them. High???

Last, but not the end of the saga, I have put some 17" wheels from a later E class on there, and I am looking at putting lowering springs on when I have the Control arm bushings replaced. Any suggestions on brand; or any reason not to lower it?
