I have a 2000 mercedes C180 and you can smell a petrol smell and when it was sat on drive could see no leaks under the car, but i drove 40miles and that used a quarter of a tank! and when i stopped i left it idling and petrol was leaking im not sure whre from, as i dont know much about cars.

but it was (from the back looking forward) just after the lump where the tyre sits in and coming down from high up, when its off doesnt seem to do it.

any ideas????

 

Looks like you have fuel line corroded. You have to raise up car on hoist and see where is leak. Shouldn't cost lot to repair.

 

hi thanks, yeah i had a look under it just after i wrote it and it is a corroded fuel line with a leak in it.
