Location of Evap Leak
Hello Gentlemen, I had a smoke test performed on my 1999 c230k which revealed leak around drivers rear wheel well area. Mechanic was not familiar with how to reach the shut off value and charcoal canister which I understand are located in that area. Can someone tell me how to reach those parts? Via the wheel well by removing tire and well cover? Via trunk? I've removed all carpeting from trunk area only to find no apparent access.
My error code has been P0455 with the usual blinking fuel light and CEL. I think I've narrowed it to this area based on the smoke test and will replace the partsmyself if I can figure out how to get to them.

RE: Location of Evap Leak
I WOULD IGNORE THE RESULTS OF YOUR SMOKE TEST. IF THE MECHANIC DID NOT KNOW HOW TO ACCESS THE CHARCOAL CANISTER THEN HE DID NOT KNOW THAT THE SHUTOFF VALVE MUST BE CLOSED VIA SDS OR SOME OTHER METHOD. YOUR SMOKE WAS PROABABLY COMING FROM AN OPEN SHUTOFF VALVE.

Removing activated charcoal canister:
1. Remove rear left wheel housing liner. Look up under fender.
2. Detach lines at shuttoff valve.
3. Slacken hose clips and detach lines.
