what is the difference between models with HID lamps and models without HID lamps and how would i now which one is on my car.

 

Don't worry about it if that's your car. I don't think 1999 model C class had HID. Also if you had it trust me you'll know when you turn on your headlights. They produce a round ball of blue light and the bulb takes about 2 secs to heat up so you will know.

 

Yes, 1999 C-Class had an option for HID Xenon lamps. They're in my car. They take more like 20 secondes to reach full intensity.
And, oh yea-you'd know if you had them. Best headlamps I've had- bar none!

BTW, if you want to learn all the options that came on your car, go to MB Club web site and key in your Vin#. Select "full version" before starting search.

Are the HID kits that they sell on ebay for about 400 bucks any good??? If not, do you guys know of any good aftermarket brands?

I really don't know, but HID kits abound and I'm sure there are some good ones out there.
