Hi.

Looking for some help with my father in law's C220D 1990 model (I think!). His key fobs are no longer working to unlock doors and more crucially disable the immobiliser, so car is stuck. I have changed batteries and tried reprogramming keys per instructions in manual & online, but they are still not working. I then tried tesing continuity between + and - in the key fob but am getting no continuity.

Is this a definitive test of keys being caput?

Can I get hold of a 2nd hand key fob and reprogramme it to his car?

Would be grateful for any advice.

try using the blade key in the drivers door. lock and unlock then put in ignition and try to start it. maybe there is an afternarket theft system in the car?

 

I too have immobiliser problems. Car is completely dead. We had disconnected the battery (since car has been standing and I think battery has died).
