I'm not sure what C280's point is. You can get either a Star or non-Star grille, but both are chromed, or "polished."

The star on the grille now is chromed plastic, It came iwth a stainless steel screw on star, which was not very good stainless, so I found the chromed plastic one on eBay. It came with tabs,I dremeled them off and use a good urethane glue to secure.

Bought both from a eBay Seller, no the flat hood ornament is screwed from below. The seller was mecedes991. the grlle was around $125 and the enblem around $30. also

i sort of ment, be caresful what type you get, try and get a oem one from another car, cos i have heard alot of mixed feelings towards the aftermarket ones, alot of people think the quality of them is not up to scratch

Allen: Thanks for your note. I ended up buying the STAR grille and the flat hood emblem from ebay. I think the emblem was $30 and the grille was $125.
