Default Just purchased 05 C230 Kompressor

I just bought a 2005 C230 Kompressor Sedan for my wife. We both love the car. My car is a 2002 MINI Cooper S. It has been very reliable. Can I expect the same from the MB? I am an above average owner when it comes to maintenance and mechanically inclined to do some of it myself. I have 2 years left on the warranty. I'd love to hear from people with the same car, pros and cons.

Many thanks,
MB

I have an '05 C230K I bought new and it now has 88,000 miles on it. Been back to MB dealership several times, once for a new supercharger at about 55,000 miles. Original one started making a horrible noise so they replaced it under the extended warranty.
Three grand or more it would have cost me they said. Great. Car runs pretty good.....eats rotors and right rear tires (see other comments on this site about that) and I don't drive it hard. Go figure. Anyway, you can do your own oil changes and save a ton and it won't "void" your warranty.Get the parts online. Change your own cabin filter (on top of the battery with some clips) and air filter can be a lifetime K&N or the factory paper deal. Oil filter in a little black tube-looking thing with a cap on it up against the firewall on the driver's side. Big wrench takes it off and the cartridge filter pulls right up. New O-rings come with the filter and you're good to go. Use Mobil 1. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply mrcoyote. After putting a few miles on the car, I'm pretty impressed. What's up with tires and rotors. Is this a problem with all of these or is it because it is capable of aggressive driving? Of thefive I looked at to buy, I noticed all had worn tires at low mileage. This one has "new" tires at 26k miles. Even my aggressively driven MINI Cooper S gets more miles out of a set of tires. Since it is my wifes car, she usually get 50k to 60kout of her tires. Is that being optimistic? I'm anxious to learn about this car. Please feed me some knowledge.

Cheers from Orlando.

Carnut,
Not sure what your wife was driving before and what type of rubber it had. I know my '06 C230S has Michelin Pilots and they are sticky and soft. I certainly do not expect 60k out of high performance tires - which most these cars have. My Pilots have 7200 on them and no unusual wear - really no tire wear at all that is visible.

She was driving a BMW 325is with Michelin Harmony's. Our 05 has the same tires as your 06. I don't expect 50 or 60k, but I was hoping for more than 26k. Has your car been pretty trouble free? I'm very familiar with BMW products, but haven't owned a Mercedes since my 66 250 SE Coupe in the 70's. I'm very impressed so far. Thanks for the reply.
