Bowlswhite,

Sorry mate! But we still do not understand on what you want to know. In other words, what is your question? Avoid using the term hill-start and hand brake.

For example, could you state like "My car is parked on a slope where the head of the car is pointed towards the incline rather than the decline. The slope is so big that the gasoline (a.k.a. petrol) in the tank gathers at the rear corner of the tank and the car will not start. Could you provide any solution?"

Then we might provide you answers like "Good mate, fill up the tank to full before you park your car there."

Best Regards,
Confused soul over the northern hemisphere.

If he would do that fly, we would have less chances to speculate on potential solution and no chance for exchanging few transcontinental insults, wouldn't we?
What da hack is jack and jill?

a nursery rhyme.

Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water
Jack fell down and broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after.
Up got Jack, and home did trot As fast as he could caper
He went to bed and bound his head
With vinegar and brown paper.

sleepwalker, u actually remember the words or u copied them from somewhere? me, i can barely finish "row row row the boat". LOL.

"Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water" <== it is dubious here already.

Jack and Jill might have some naughty intent. Water usually is at the bottom of the hill, not up there!!

"Jack fell down...Jill came tumbling after" <== hmm....they both are on their fours at last.

"Up got Jack" <== Jack needs no Viagra.

He went to bed and bone his chick??

Also...I wonder what Jill's been cleaning with vinegar??

i was already writing the "jack and jill went up the hill to get a pail of water", but i cannot remember the rest anymore. so i copy it from another nursery rhyme. LOL

it's been a while since i heard the word "hill", till bowlswhite mention it. it brings back to my memory when after school hours, i would go to the hill just behind my elementary school.. taking with me my big plank from palm tree leaves. i would ride on it from the top going down. that was the time when sand surfing was still unknown to mankind.

anyway, it became so popular that i got many members joining me in a matter of time. rolling down, scratches and missing teeth are a part of it.

I got it the first time. I think Kajtek explained what o do pretty well. Gas it gently to raise revs then release brake!
If all else fails buy another house at the bottom of the hill!

I've been living in mountain area for quite long time.
Had one house, where the driveway was scratching my bumpers on the incline and another, when it was scratching the belly on the downgrade.
With my skills I could manage any of those, but from my wife experience, the one uphill is much safer.

The answer has been starring you in the face for ages! Get another wife!
Sorry I had to throw that in seeing as how some of usdon't let our wives in our cars. Mine leaves it smelling like a french boutique with bits of tissue paper lying around, pens fallen between the seats & drinks in the cup holder ( what does she think the cup holder is there for - it is to hod your drink & not to be used as a final resting place for the empty receptacle) Looks like I'm the one who needs to get a new wife!!!!!

Hey, I didn't spend all the time to train my wife to change her now.
I even teach her to drive with the seat back and arms straight. That saves some anger, since we can fit into each other settings. She is good driver, but too easy to distract by a phone call.
Sometimes our friend asks me to park her car on our complicated driveway. She likes to drive with the breast resting on the air bag. Since she is skinny, the seat is so close to the wheel, that I can't even enter the car to adjust darn seat.
